JOB DESCRIPTIONWe are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in theoretical condensed matter physics, with interests including but not limited to exotic phases of matter in bosonic, fermionic and spin systems; aspects of generalized, including non-invertible, symmetries; field-theoretic techniques in topological phases of matter; and quantum information theory as it relates to condensed matter problems. Candidates with either (or both) analytical and numerical expertise are encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will operate in the research group of Dr. Andriy Nevidomskyy, with opportunities to collaborate with other faculty members in the Condensed Matter Theory group, as well as interact with BNL scientists across disciplinary boundaries. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to conduct original research, disseminate results by writing manuscripts and giving academic presentations, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Trained as a theorist in either condensed matter physics or quantum information theory.
- Able to work closely and communicate effectively with colleagues focused on other theoretical techniques.
- Numerical expertise in tensor networks and matrix product states OR analytical field-theoretic expertise.
- Familiarity with topological phases of matter and their classification.
- Some experience with quantum information science research is desirable but not essential.
Candidates are required to submit a Resume or CV and a Research Statement, not to exceed 3 pages in length. Please upload all documents at the time of application.
