Job Summary:
The Cooks Helper assists in meal preparation and service for children, families, and staff within a facility, ensuring nutritional standards and food safety protocols are followed. This role supports the Head Cook in kitchen operations, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in food preparation, cooking, and serving under the Head Cook's direction.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including utensils, equipment, and food storage areas.
Follow food safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation.
Assist with meal planning and preparation for special diets or individual needs.
Report kitchen issues or equipment malfunctions to the Head Cook.
Help manage kitchen inventory and ensure adequate stock.
Qualifications:
Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety practices.
Ability to follow instructions and work as a team.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Food handling certification preferred.
Experience in a child care or institutional setting a plus.
Working Conditions:
Flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Salary Range: $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience.
