The food runner is the liaison between the server and kitchen helping to ensure that meals and other food items are correctly delivered to guests, including take-out orders. These individuals must maintain a strong knowledge of the restaurant’s menu and cuisine in addition to understanding and performing side-work. Food runners must maintain positive, upbeat attitudes, work well with others, and interact with guests on a regular basis.
Candidates must offer part-time availability.
Responsibilities to include:
- Ensure food is prepared to guest’s request
- Ensure plates are handled carefully and brought out in a timely manner
- Assist with clearing and cleaning tables, filling water glasses and refilling drinks
- Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and customer areas and returning plates to the kitchen
- Able to handle customer complaints and notify appropriate staff to ensure problems are fixed
