Kitchen Operations Manager - Vietnamese Restaurant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to take ownership of daily back-of-house operations for a busy Vietnamese/Southeast Asian restaurant in North Syracuse.

This is a leadership and management position, not a line-cooking role. The Kitchen Manager will oversee the kitchen team, staffing, food quality, inventory, ordering, food costs, sanitation, and overall BOH organization while ensuring the kitchen is fully prepared for every service.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily BOH operations and kitchen execution.
• Manage, schedule, train, coach, and hold kitchen employees accountable.
• Ensure proper staffing and coverage for every shift.
• Monitor food quality, consistency, portioning, and presentation.
• Oversee prep levels and ensure the kitchen is properly prepared for service.
• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor deliveries.
• Monitor food cost, labor, waste, and product usage.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and organization.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
• Coordinate with ownership and FOH leadership regarding daily operational needs.
• Identify and resolve operational issues before they impact service.
• Maintain an organized, efficient, professional, and positive kitchen culture.
• Develop team members and build accountability throughout the BOH.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 2+ years of Kitchen Manager, BOH Manager, Sous Chef, or comparable leadership experience.
• Vietnamese, Asian, or Southeast Asian restaurant experience is a strong plus.
• Proven experience managing kitchen teams, scheduling, inventory, ordering, and food costs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced restaurant.
• Hands-on leader who can effectively manage the operation without needing to work the line.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization.
• Serv Safe certification preferred.
• Reliable, accountable, and comfortable taking full ownership of BOH operations.
