The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for Cashier (Part-time) in the ARC – Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Job Summary

Assists store customers in selecting and purchasing items, operates and maintains a cash register, collects monies, counts change, prepares receipts, balances the cash register drawer, prints routine register printouts, prepares and delivers bank deposits. Responds to customer questions and assists customers who are donating items. Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of merchandise and displays, keeps the cash register area neat and secure, cleans display racks, shelves, floors, windows, mirrors, and helps maintain overall store cleanliness.

Answers the store telephone in a tactful and courteous manner.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of effective customer service techniques; principles and practices of basic mathematics; ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred and experience working in a retail store preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

None.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements; operate a cash register; accurately and timely perform routine mathematical computations and count change; operate and answer the telephone. Generally limited physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling 75% to 100% of work time. May include carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects (typically less than 50 lbs.) 25-50% of work time.
