The Sales Manager is primarily responsible for managing and driving sales and margin in alignment with the financial plan of the retail store by managing a sales team. The role also supports the Store Manager in building a high‑performing sales culture and maintaining a strategic view of store talent needs.
Primary Job Functions- Recruit, onboard, train, and motivate a team of sales associates.
- Develop a positive, collaborative work environment fostering high performance and low turnover.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Lead and coach sales associates to meet sales and profit goals.
- Implement selling system and standards aligned with company strategy.
- Support promotional events and product knowledge training.
- Use analytics to drive sales development and operational decisions.
- Ensure visual presentation and store standards are upheld.
- Operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training.
- Assist with training other employees and provide backup.
- Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
- Associate degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of retail sales experience.
- Supervisory/management experience.
- Strong knowledge of furniture products and styles.
- Basic financial acumen.
- Exceptional relationship‑building and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Confidentiality and integrity.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and mobile devices.
- Performance under strong demands in a fast‑paced environment.
- Professional customer and coworker service with empathy and respect.
- Capacity to handle difficult situations professionally.
