About Shop Around the Corner

Shop Around the Corner is an independent bookstore founded in 1926 in New York, NY. We have grown to stores across the United States and Europe, curating a selection that fosters learning and community among readers.

As an Operations Associate, your primary responsibilities are to maintain a high standard of operational excellence throughout the New York City store and to create storewide systems that maximize efficiency. Supporting the Operations Director, you will execute all day‑to‑day and long‑term purchasing and inventory tasks, while also engaging in short‑term and long‑term thinking on best operational practices using data and experience.

You will assist in negotiations with and management of vendors, especially in support of the student food service program and facilities renovations. Additionally, you will help with student enrollment and record maintenance throughout the year.

At all times, you will work to strengthen relationships with customers, vendors, and co‑staff to foster a strong bookstore community that is safe and welcoming.

United States Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 USD

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.
