CPG start-up born out of a classic NYC bagel shop is expanding and looking for a CPG Sales Account Executive who will take ownership of driving CPG growth across retail, distributor, and direct customer relationships—helping us build sales velocity and brand loyalty through strong partnerships, in-store activations, and promotional strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Manage relationships with key retail customers, distributors, and brokers to ensure strong execution, sales growth, promotional performance and shelf placement optimization.
- Open new accounts, build and execute account-specific strategy to increase distribution, sales velocity, and brand presence.
- Negotiate promotional programs, pricing, and placement to maximize ROI.
- Track sales performance, history and trends and provide regular reporting and insights to leadership.
- Develop and manage online CRM to track retail-specific programs and sales data.
- Be our boots on the ground; visit stores, schedule sales meetings, and more.
- Develop and oversee an effective demo program to drive trial and awareness.
- Coordinate field marketing activations, sampling events and seasonal promotions to support growth in key markets.
- Manage any third-party reps or agencies, ensuring they are well-trained and represent the brand with excellence.
- Identify and pursue new retail and food service opportunities as we grow.
- Plan for scalable production reach to fit new retailer outlets.
- Partner with marketing on trade shows, category reviews, and retailer presentations.
- Support the launch of new products with customer-specific strategies.
- Work closely with operations to forecast demand and manage inventory with distributors.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop promotional plan for broader brand and retail-specific groups.
- Represent the company at trade shows, category reviews, and customer meetings.
- 5-7+ years of sales experience in food & beverage or CPG, with proven success managing retail or distributor accounts.
- Strong understanding of retail sales fundamentals: velocity, trade spend, margins, and promotional ROI.
- Experience with field marketing or retail activations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build lasting customer relationships.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
- Proficiency in Excel, sales reporting tools, and CRM platforms.
