Job Descriptionde Gournay is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Assistant to support our New York team. This role is ideal for someone who is highly interested in the interior design business, enjoys building relationships, and is eager to learn about business development within the design industry. The candidate will report to the Business Development Director and will be based in the New York City showroom.
The successful candidate will be focused on outside sales meetings with trade clients in the Tristate, East Coast and Midwest territories, as well as hosting clients in the showroom. They will assist in generating new leads, maintaining client relationships, and supporting day-to-day administrative operations. The role will be based in the New York showroom.
Key Responsibilities- Work very closely with the Business Development Director to identify trade clients in the Tristate, East Coast and Midwest territories and arrange sales presentations to these clients. To meet a weekly presentation target. There will be an expectation of some US travel and so a valid driver's license is required.
- Support the sales team in identifying new business opportunities and maintaining relationships with existing clients. To generate new business leads and pass these on to the Business Development Director or sales team accordingly.
- Assist with the preparation of dynamic client presentations; ensure that meetings are recorded within the CRM system and clients are followed up with accordingly.
- Maintain and update the CRM and other client databases. Work closely with the Business Development Director on this.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and excellent client service. To assist on showroom events on an ad hoc basis. To also work with the Business Development Director to arrange and host after hours showroom events.
- Maintain a very high level of design training on all de Gournay designs: our hand-painted wallpapers, porcelain and embroidered wallpapers and textiles. To ensure the greatest pride is taken in keeping up to date on all new designs and techniques.
- Very strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The ability convey design information in an engaging way is key.
- Confident, professional manner when interacting with clients. A very clear and profession writing style is key.
- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn about sales and business development. An interest in consistent self-motivated learning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with CRM systems a plus.
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, or design industry preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license.
