We are partnering with a growing NYC-based startup that helps small business owners sell their companies by connecting them with qualified buyers and guiding them through the sale process.
They are looking to hire a hands-on Sales Manager to lead, coach, and develop their growing sales team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has been a successful salesperson, transitioned into sales management, and genuinely enjoys helping others succeed.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, enjoys being involved in the day-to-day activities of the sales team, and knows how to drive accountability and performance.
This is a true frontline sales management role. You will not carry an individual sales quota or be responsible for developing the company's overall sales strategy. Instead, your focus will be on coaching, developing talent, managing sales activity, and helping the team consistently achieve its goals.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop a growing team of Account Executives (AEs) and Sales Development Representatives (SDRs/BDRs).
- Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings, team stand‑ups, pipeline reviews, and coaching sessions.
- Monitor sales activity, pipeline health, conversion rates, and individual performance metrics.
- Hold team members accountable for achieving their goals and maintaining consistent sales activity.
- Review discovery calls and customer interactions to identify coaching opportunities.
- Help salespeople improve their prospecting, discovery, objection handling, and closing skills.
- Identify performance gaps and provide actionable feedback to improve results.
- Execute the company's existing sales strategy and processes.
- Participate in customer calls and support salespeople with challenging opportunities when needed.
- Help onboard, train, and develop new sales hires as the team continues to grow.
- 3+ years of successful sales experience with a demonstrated history of strong performance.
- 1+ years of hands‑on sales management or meaningful team leadership experience.
- Prior experience working in an early-stage startup environment is required.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold salespeople accountable.
- Experience conducting 1-on-1s, pipeline reviews, team meetings, and sales coaching sessions.
- Strong understanding of sales metrics, pipeline management, and sales execution.
- Comfortable leading both Account Executives and SDRs/BDRs.
- A hands‑on leadership style with a willingness to get involved in the details.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with limited infrastructure and changing priorities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience in SMB or enterprise sales environments will be considered.
- Candidates from a variety of industries are encouraged to apply.
- Must be able to work in the New York City office 3 days per week.
- Leadership Opportunity: Take ownership of the day‑to‑day performance and development of a growing sales team.
- No Individual Sales Quota: Focus on coaching, managing, and helping your team succeed rather than carrying your own book of business.
- Startup Environment: Join a growing company where your contributions can have a meaningful impact.
- Growth Potential: Opportunity to develop professionally as the company continues to expand.
We're looking for someone who was a top‑performing salesperson, has already demonstrated success leading others, and genuinely enjoys frontline sales management.
The right person wants to be involved with their team, listen to calls, provide coaching, solve problems, and help salespeople improve.
They understand how to balance supporting their team with holding people accountable for results.
Most importantly, they're comfortable working in an early‑stage startup, don't need extensive resources to be successful, and are excited about helping a growing sales organization reach the next level.
