EDR is seeking a team-oriented Senior Archaeologist with significant experience (10+ years) managing projects and/or as a subject matter expert/technical lead in Cultural Resources Management. This role serves as the lead for cultural resources studies and communication of the results to EDR internal staff and clients. The Senior Archaeologist will have project management responsibilities, oversee archaeology staff and resources, and ensure deliverables meet EDR’s standard of quality.
This role would be a full-time position with some flexibility around location within the New England region of the US. This is a senior role requiring 10 years or more of relevant experience in a similar, or related professional setting. The qualified candidate will have:
- Strong writing and verbal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage cultural resources projects, and the reporting of the results to clients.
- At least 10 years of experience directing cultural resources investigations in New York, the Northeast, and/or mid-Atlantic states.
- Subject matter expertise in North American archaeology
- Demonstrated experience managing client, agency, and indigenous nations communications, including project reviews under state and federal permitting.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including preparing proposals, scopes of work, project budgets, invoicing, and change orders.
- Demonstrated experience managing the permitting for archaeology and/or environmental projects.
- Demonstrated experience scheduling, coordinating, and directing staff for Phase I-III archaeological investigations.
- Strong research, organizational, and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to review and edit cultural resources reports, memoranda, and associated deliverables.
- An undergraduate or advanced degree in anthropology, history, or related field.
- Working knowledge of GIS and GPS technology, mapping, analysis, and data processing.
- Ability to travel (locally and out of state when required).
EDR began providing cultural resources services in 2010, and since that time has conducted dozens of cultural resources investigations in New York State and the Northeast and our senior cultural resources staff meet the Secretary of Interior’s Guidelines (per 36 CFR Part 61) in their respective fields. EDR’s staff includes a diverse group of environmental professionals that includes ecologists, botanists, wetland specialists, wildlife biologists, GIS specialists, archaeologists, historians, visualization specialists, planners, landscape architects and engineers.
