We’re looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead applied research projects focused on udder health, milk quality, and employee training on dairy farms. This is an opportunity to combine science, technology, and outreach to improve animal welfare and farm performance.
What You’ll Do- Collaborate on projects that connect animal health, data analysis, and human behavior.
- Design and carry out field studies, collecting and analyzing large data sets.
- Use and evaluate AI tools to support research and training.
- Create engaging, science-based training materials in English and Spanish for farm workers and managers.
- Publish findings and present at conferences locally and internationally.
- Collaborate with top researchers, including the Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture (CIDA).
- DVM and/or PhD (or equivalent) in veterinary, animal, or biological sciences.
- Experience or strong interest in:
- Udder health and animal welfare
- Digital learning and employee education
- Big data and technology in agriculture
- Bilingual communication (English & Spanish a plus)
Responsibility for working with cattle at Cornell’s dairy units and commercial dairy farms in upstate New York. Comfortable with basic handling of large animals and communicating with dairy employees.
Strong interest in visual design, continuing education, online training, attention to detail, leadership and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn new methods and techniques as projects evolve. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and ideally Spanish.
Position duration: one year, renewable based on performance, productivity and funding. Start date negotiable.
Salary Range: $61,008 to $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
