Farm Kitchen Manager

Laughing Earth is a diversified farm in Brunswick, NY whose mission is to feed the bellies and minds of our local community, both raising food in an ecologically‑minded way and teaching our farm members and consumers about the true costs and benefits of food production. On our 175‑acre conserved farm, we raise vegetables for a 140‑family Farm Share program and our on‑farm store, as well as rotationally pasture a variety of livestock to sell the meat and eggs both on the farm and at the local farmers’ market.

The kitchen manager creates sausages, soup stocks, and other meat products, as well as hot sauce and other value‑added vegetable products, to sell in our farm stand and at our farmers’ market. The kitchen manager is responsible for keeping a clean and organized workspace and following all food safety protocols.

• Ability to work both independently and efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and food safety
• 1+ years experience in a production kitchen
• Knowledge, passion, and familiarity with local, organic, and seasonal produce
• Comfort working with meat and animal processing
• Food safety certification is a plus

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, sanitation and food safety protocols
• Prepare high‑quality meat products and value‑added food for sale in the farm stand
• Help design a seasonal offering of products
• Create and recommend new recipes and methods to improve quality and increase production
• Maintain inventory of products, ingredients, and supplies daily
• Place ingredient and packaging orders
• Organize, label and date all food items in storage per food safety guidelines
• Maintain constructive communication with all members of the farm staff

$20 per hour plus a 15% discount on all items in our farm store.

April 1 – December 1. Full time.

Laughing Earth maintains a PTO and sick leave policy that accrues at 1 hour paid time off (PTO) for every 40 hours worked plus 1 paid sick day per 80 hours worked.
