Security Monitor - Domestic Violence Programs
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION & ESSENTIAL
SKILLS:
- Maintain a log of visitors entering and exiting the premises and record all unusual incidents per established procedures, while ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors enter the property.
- Surveillance of the grounds, facility and activities of the residents to prevent theft and resident harm.
- Ensure that all doors from the facility are locked and secured.
- Monitor fire and safety procedures.
- Provide administrative support in the area of the office coverage, telephone and clerical work.
- Perform light maintenance responsibilities in the absence of maintenance staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Function independently in term of facility coverage including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situation per agency procedures.
- Meet with Security Supervisor for individual and group supervision, and training.
- Assist with delivery of supplies and furniture.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Three years experience as a security monitor.
- Need to understand the issues of domestic violence and need of women and children.
- Experience working in a 24-hour residential facility, able to work with minimum supervision and as a team player.
- Valid NY State Registration as a Security Guard.
- Must have ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
- Must be computer literate and must have knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
