Provides security and related assignments to ensure the safety of the Medical Center's patients, visitors and associates. Prevents destructive acts to the Medical Center's property. Performs related duties as required.

• Guards and secures designated entrances/exits to ensure that only patients, associates and authorized visitors enter the facility.
  • Low number of incidents,
• Patrols specific area in and around the facility.
  • Low number of incidents.
• Interacts and cooperates with Montefiore associates in scheduled rounds and in response to ad hoc security issues.
  • Staff satisfaction with security function.
• Monitors flow of visitors into and within facility providing directions to specific authorized destinations.
  • Reduced level of loitering in facility.
• Responds to emergency/unusual situations in facility including fires, disturbances, disruptive patients or visitors and other occurrences when assistance is requested or needed by the staff according to Montefiore procedures and policies.
  • Quick response time and fast resolution of emergency situations.
• Checks authorizations to remove Medical Center property from facility. Safeguards facility, patient and associate property according to Montefiore procedures and policies.
  • Reduced level of theft and unauthorized removal of medical center property.
• Conducts initial investigation of incidents and prepares and submits all required reports according to Montefiore procedures and policies.
  • Reports are accurate and prepared on a timely basis.
• Exercise constant vigilance in reference to patients, staff and visitors within facility. Receives complaints and suggestions from staff and communicates these responses to supervisor.
  • Greater patient/staff satisfaction with security; reduction in patient/staff complaints.
• Performs ancillary support functions including but not limited to morgue operation, vehicular traffic control, off hours receipt of packages, information desk duties and transporting people or packages between Montefiore facilities.
• Performs all related duties as assigned by security supervisor.
  • Services are provided efficiently and on a timely basis.

• GED required.
• 1-3 years’ security or military experience.
• Office equipment, PC, to process security reports, operate motor vehicle (if authorized), electronic communications equipment; CCTV and electronic security systems.
• Security guard required.
• OHS Annual Assessment required.
• OHS Fit Test required.
• Completion of a New York state approved security guard training program and a current NYS Security Guard license required.
• Valid NYS class 4 driver’s license preferred.
