Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Field Supervisor-Security.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for overseeing the Security Operations activities, inspecting security posts and reviewing and solving security incidents.
Job Responsibilities- Submits written reports of personnel and security posts deficiencies. Manages problems, issues or operational matters in a proactive manner. Refers matters to the next level of supervision, when appropriate.
- During the absence of the senior supervisor, conducts roll call, inspects and assigns personnel to security posts to ensure proper coverage. Ensures staff report to work, are fit for duty, and sign in for attendance and payroll purposes. Effectively communicates information needed for efficient operations of the shift. Evaluates staffing assignments to ensure all posts are covered effectively. Inspects subordinates to ensure compliance with uniform policy.
- Trains and orients new security personnel on overall Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures. Ensures new staff are competent and have all the necessary tools and equipment to perform their job. Assists in probationary evaluations as needed.
- Responds to emergencies, fire alarms, etc. to ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff. Ensures staff are fully aware and competent in emergency preparedness. Works with all members of the medical center family to ensure the safety and well being of patients, visitors, staff and the environment.
- Instits action to correct any safety and/or security concerns and conduct proper notifications. Takes necessary and immediate action to investigate or correct any hazards. Notifies superiors and ensures an appropriate report is prepared.
- Inspects security posts to ensure personnel performance and compliance with post duties. Trains security personnel on post requirements, descriptions and standards of performance. Takes immediate disciplinary action when job performance is not in compliance with Medical Center and Departmental policies and procedures. Physically inspects all posts several times each shift and provides appropriate supervision. Ensures post conditions are orderly. Ensures staff on post are compliant, in appropriate uniform and understand post orders.
Communicates new instructions or reinforces operational needs. Takes immediate disciplinary action when needed. - Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reviews, investigates and follows up reports of incidents/complaints recorded by security personnel to determine accuracy of documentation and resolutions. Ensures reports written by subordinates are complete, accurate and timely. Follows up on matters that need additional information. Manages, documents and thoroughly investigates any complaints of subordinates. Notifies superiors in a timely manner.
- Oversees Security Operations in a proactive manner. Ensures security programs and initiatives are adhered to by subordinates. Follows departmental programs and standards, as well as other medical center standards. Maintains continuity of information for all shifts.
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience working in a healthcare setting. Fire Safety Directors Certificate; valid New York State Drivers license.
