Location: Rose Center at 80 Pitt St. and Essex Community Center at 175 Delancey St.
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Salary: $21.97 - $24.72 per hour
Start dates: ASAP
Schedule: Flexibility to be on-call is required. Monday - Friday, must be available between 7am and 7pm with evening and weekend availability for special events. Schedule will vary depending on need. This is a per diem position.
Job summaryAs the first point of contact for all visitors to 80 Pitt Street/175 Delancey, the Security Guard/Receptionist provides a welcoming environment and a strong sense of safety for the community. Day-to-day the Security Guard / Receptionist is responsible for visitor management, handling in-person and phone inquiries, and receiving and disbursing packages. Additionally, the Security Guard / Receptionist will act as the liaison to NYPD and NYFD and to all internal stakeholders on matters related to safety, security and emergency management.
Education,experience and skills requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Security License required.
- Previous youth based/school/community center security experience.
- Good conflict mediation and public relations skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal guidance.
- Previous experience working with a diverse population.
- The ideal candidate must be personable, energetic, and enthusiastic.
- Candidates must successfully complete: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening;
New York State Clearance Review Background Check; three (3) Reference Checks;
Physical with updated TB Test (fees may apply). - Valid CPR/AED Pro-certification through recognized accrediting body preferred.
- Greet visitors/employees warmly and professionally upon entering, address inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate locations.
- Log medical or safety related incidents.
- Manage and mediate all conflicts.
- Respond to emergencies (medical, unsafe areas, trespassing, altercations, etc.).
- Control the flow of traffic so that only participants scheduled are allowed in the building or into appropriate program areas.
- Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, program participants, families, community members and program staff.
- Keep lobby clear of unauthorized persons, including loitering children, adults, or adolescents.
- Keep abreast of daily activities in the building.
- Manage registration forms and process identification cards for program participants (as needed).
- Monitor, access and review security footage as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Candidates must be able to sit or stand for long periods, climb stairs, lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with the latest visitor management software and security-related technology is a plus.
- Ability to be requested to work on short notice.
