Job Description- Location:
Lower Manhattan, NYC - Full‑time, Monday‑Friday mornings
- Hourly rate: $25.00/hour
- Requirements: F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness; able to walk or stand for long periods.
Implement the building's fire safety plan, manage the Fire Command Station, supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors, maintain life‑safety systems, conduct fire alarm drills, keep logs, and act as liaison to the NYC Fire Department.
Expected Skills & Competencies- Ensure all life‑safety systems and equipment are fully functional.
- Maintain fire‑safety teams on each floor (Fire Wardens, Deputy Wardens, Building Evacuation Team).
- Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain written logs and critiques.
- Provide clear guidance and assistance to visitors, guests, vendors, and employees during emergencies.
- Assist building security with visual inspection of access badges.
- Maintain surveillance and report suspicious persons/packages.
- Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid as required.
- Stand or walk constantly for shift duration on various surfaces.
- Climb stairs, ramps, ladders occasionally.
- Occasionally bend/twist at waist, knees, or neck.
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 lb.
- Run as needed.
- Use both hands and arms for reaching, handling, and administrative tasks.
- Maintain eye use and hand/eye coordination for monitoring and communications.
- Work in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Effective written and oral communication skills at all levels.
- Ability to prepare written reports and logs; computer skills preferred.
- Read and understand operating procedures and instructions.
- Licensing requirements subject to local laws; may be required prior to employment.
- Must pass background investigation and drug/alcohol test.
- Maintain active status of required licenses and carry them on duty.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Adaptable to changing environments.
- Intermediate computer skills with wireless technology.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional appearance.
- English proficiency for clear communication.
- Handle pressure of high volume public interactions.
