Director of Public Safety

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:

Protect life and property and able to respond to all types of emergencies on campus

Principal Responsibilities:

* Performs routine public safety duties in accordance with established guidelines.

* Patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building and equipment security.

* Warn violators of rule infractions

* Enforce traffic and parking violations

* Enforce all applicable campus rules and regulations plus NY State Penal Law when appropriate

* Assist in emergency situations as needed

Education Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; college preferred.

Training. Skills, Knowledge.

Experience:

* Prior law enforcement and/or security experience preferred

* Must have good written, verbal communication and organizational skills

* General computer knowledge is required

* Valid NY State driver's license and good driving record required

* Must have valid NY State security guard license and have completed both the 8 hour and 16 hour security guard training

* Must have in possession updated CPR/AED and First Aid Training

Working Conditions:

* Must be able to demonstrate physical fitness

* Able to stand for a long period of time;

* Able to walk for long period of time;

* Climb stairs and being exposed to outdoor weather conditions

* Must be able to assist in lifting a person at least 150 pounds onto stretcher into ambulance.

* Able to work shifts as needed.
