DescriptionThe Asset Protection Market Investigator manages and coordinates investigations of shoplifting and external theft, including shoplifters, habitual offenders, and organized retail criminals, within an assigned market to achieve maximum shrink prevention and protect company assets. The role reports to the Asset Protection Senior Manager and generally has no direct reports. The Investigator is expected to perform all tasks safely in compliance with company values, policies, local, state and federal laws.
Candidates should reside in New York or New Jersey and will support over 100 locations in the Northeast market.

Major Responsibilities- Investigate and resolve cases related to external theft and other theft activity
- Develop strategies and tactical plans to resolve theft and fraud
- Organize, plan, and facilitate external theft operations as needed
- Conduct non‑mobile surveillance of individuals suspected of external theft and/or fraud
- Identify and apprehend individuals involved in shoplifting and Organized Retail Crime (ORC)
- Build and maintain effective relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, internal Asset Protection partners, other retailers, and Mall Security departments
- Ensure proper preparation, maintenance, and retention of all reports, evidence, files, and records in accordance with company guidelines and local jurisdiction requirements
- Partner with law enforcement to present case work, facilitate apprehension, arrest, and prosecution of individuals involved in external theft
- Testify in criminal proceedings when required; work closely within local jurisdiction to ensure prosecution
- Participate in law enforcement networking meetings, including attendance at Organized Retail Crime Association (ORCA) meetings within the assigned area(s)
- Support cases with logistics focus, including investigations of drivers and the process of moving product within our store network
- Effectively utilize investigative tools (e.g., RFID, external theft probability models, cameras) to identify and investigate theft trends
- Partner with and educate store leadership teams and sales associates on external theft awareness and prevention
- Identify, analyze, develop strategy, and communicate action plans to mitigate external theft trends with the broader AP team
Minimum Salary: $85,700.00

- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s degree is a plus. - Minimum of two to three years of asset protection investigative experience preferred.
- Must uphold our values, code of conduct, and policies at all times and lead by example.
- Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be self‑motivated and manage time effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer use.
- Highly proficient in closed‑circuit television (CCTV) and reporting systems that support investigations.
- Experience with Radio‑frequency identification (RFID) is a plus.
- Overnight travel required (50% of time).
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required due to travel requirements.
