Fire Life Safety Director - Commercial Building - Downtown Manhattan

Job DescriptionFull Time position. Workdays:
Wednesday–Sunday, shifts:
Afternoons (3 pm – 11 pm). Pay: $35 /hour.
- Manage the building’s fire safety plan and the Fire Command Station.
- Supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
- Liaise with the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.
- Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
- Maintain written logs of fire alarm drills and critique reports.
- Provide clear direction and assistance to client visitors, guests, vendors, and employees, professionally and courteously.
- Assist security staff in inspecting visitor, vendor, and employee access badges/identification cards.
- Surveil and report suspicious persons and/or packages.
- Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid when required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prepare written reports and logs clearly.
- Good computer literacy.
- Stand or walk continuously throughout the shift.
- Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally.
- Occasionally bend, twist, lift or carry up to 40 lb.
- Run as needed.
- Constant use of hands, arms, and eyes for administrative tasks and monitoring.
- Work in varying environments, including adverse outdoor conditions.
- Maintain high mental alertness and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Effective written and oral communication; initiative and independent judgment.
- Read and understand operating procedures.
- Background investigation and pre‑employment drug/alcohol test.
- Maintain an active license at all times if required.
- Customer‑service orientation and professional appearance.
- Adaptability to changing environments.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
- English language proficiency; normal hearing and speech.
- Ability to handle high‑volume public interactions.
