Maintenance Technician 2

Location: 151 Lawrence Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Ability to travel between program sites across Brooklyn required.

Schedule: Full‑time, 35 hours per week Monday – Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Salary Range: $22.00/hour, annualized $40,040/year.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician 2 may be assigned to different sites as required by program needs. Responsible for the general safety conditions of the assigned facility. Ensure cleanliness and maintain building(s) in good condition and repair to ensure the safety and comfort of staff and clients and protect the Program’s physical facility. Ensures compliance with regulatory environmental standards. Performs minor construction projects consisting of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry work.

Makes routine rounds, performs tests and equipment readings. Performs diagnostic testing and repairs equipment and systems (i.e., HVAC, electrical systems). Performs exterior grounds maintenance.

Essential Duties
  • Monitor the Facility’s interior and exterior entrances for cleanliness (including snow removal and removal of other hazardous conditions).
  • Complete Work Orders assigned in an efficient and proficient manner.
  • Assist in safety and evacuation drills, procedures and training.
  • Alert the direct supervisor, Asst. Director, Director or designee, of any unusual occurrences or violation of rules and regulations (i.e., no smoking regulations).
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled, and maintain log‑books accurately and completely in accordance with policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines.
  • Attend in‑service training, seminars, and other educational activities as required.
  • Perform semi‑skilled duties in the construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair on buildings, and mechanical and electrical systems equipment.
  • Provide on‑call maintenance coverage, when assigned.
  • Make routine rounds, perform tests and equipment reading.
  • Repair minor electrical malfunctions and help install new equipment.
  • Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water systems, and unclog clogged drains.
  • Build, alter, repair, and maintain buildings, floors, partitions, windows, doors, screens, wood fixtures, and furniture.
  • Check functionality of safety systems (fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs including, but not limited to:
  • Painting, patching, and sheetrock repair and installation, plaster repair.
  • Light plumbing including unclogging drains and basic plumbing repairs.
  • Light electrical (from the wall out) including replacing fixtures and lighting ballast.
  • Lighting in general including bulb and switch plate replacement.
  • Lock repair and replacement.
  • Floor tile repair and installation including base.
  • General carpentry including interior renovation, ductwork.
  • HVAC system cleaning, filter and belt changes.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, recommend and perform basic corrective maintenance as required.
  • Perform general repair work involving rough carpentry and painting tasks.
