Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and commercial property management, and its’ tax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities.

We are looking to hire an experienced Handyman at our energy efficient location in the Bronx. Via Verde consists of two buildings with various amenities for residents to enjoy. The building is energy efficient with sustainable design features, which include solar panels. This site has 222 units.

This position is primarily responsible for performing general maintenance tasks on a daily basis that include, but are not limited to the following duties.

• General plumbing repairs such as toilets, faucets, and minor leaks.
• Repair and replace general hardware such as doors, doorknobs, locks, and broken tiles.
• Minor cosmetic updates to apartments, entrances, and common areas such as painting, plaster, sanding, and wallpaper installation.
• General Electrical work, such as, replacing light fixtures, smoke alarm, oven vent, outlets and GFI.
• Assist in snow removal on sidewalks and driveways.
• Minor window repair such as window balance and replacing installing screens.
• Compactor, recycling, and garbage removal etc.;

• 1-3 years of experience.
• Basic carpentry and electrical skills.
• Ability to solve problems and pay attention to details.
• Friendly, positive team player.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to follow instructions.

• Required experience:
  
  2 years prior handyman experience.

• Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Required:

2 years Handyman experience.
