Our canine group, under Allied Universal® Enhanced Protection Services, is hiring a Field Technician - Smart Tech. The Field Technician - Smart Tech provides technical support, installation, maintenance, and repair services for X‑Ray inspection systems and Smart Tech® units. The Field Technician supports escalated technical issues, performs field and in‑house service work, and assists with Smart Tech® deployments while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams.

The Field Technician - Smart Tech will expect to travel locally and nationwide as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide Tier 3 support for X‑Ray systems and Tier 1–3 support for Smart Tech® units by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues involving internal computers, transformers, control boards, conveyor systems, and X‑Ray generators
  • Diagnose system malfunctions and communicate repair or replacement needs to technicians and internal teams
  • Perform installations, de‑installations, maintenance, repairs, and removals of X‑Ray machines locally and nationwide (excluding TSA checkpoint units)
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair X‑Ray equipment in‑house and onsite, utilizing diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters and radiation detectors
  • Research equipment requirements prior to Smart Tech® installations to ensure compatibility with specific X‑Ray unit specifications
  • Perform Smart Tech® installations, removals, upgrades, and configuration adjustments to suit varying operational environments
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding maintenance activities, installations, repairs, and system status
  • Complete required administrative documentation, including installation reports, maintenance reports, expense reports, and other assigned records
  • Provide onsite customer training limited to basic X‑Ray operator and Smart Tech® operator training (excluding image interpretation)
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE)
  • Must possess one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Systems Technology, or a related technical field
    • High School diploma or equivalent with a combination of six (6) years of technical/trade certifications, vocational training, or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass annual certification from an X‑Ray Technologies Manufacturer (ex. Smiths Detection)
  • Valid driver’s license if driving a company vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting business (e.g., client visits, attending networking events)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of field technician service experience
  • Experience diagnosing and solving complex technical issues
  • Technical competencies with X‑Ray Technologies (X‑Ray Machines, Baggage Scanners) including but not limited to:
    Smiths Detection, Rapiscan, Astrophysics, VOTI, VMI or L3 Communications units
  • Technical competencies with computers in general
  • Able to work both individually and with a team
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule as business needs dictate
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and vendor‑management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE)
  • Experience with electronic boards and moving parts is preferred

PAY RATE

$30 - $33 per hour
