Summary
  • Install and move machinery, shafting, belts, and perform related assignments.
  • Maintain building central systems and related plumbing.
  • Must possess required EPA certifications for HYAC repair.
  • Follow prints, sketches, and other written specifications.
  • Perform safety checks of lifting devices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receive assignments that specify location and general nature of work, with necessary instructions.
  • Use sketches or prints prepared by supervisors, Engineering Department, or manufacturer specifications when necessary.
  • Unload machines or disassembled parts from trucks using hoists, jacks, crowbars, and wooden blocks.
  • Prepare foundations for machines as required; outline size, dig depth, form, and pour concrete as needed.
  • Transfer machinery on rollers or with power lift trucks; place on foundation and assemble remaining parts; adjust for operation.
  • Cut, thread, and bend pipe; install valves and accessories.
  • Move machinery or equipment as directed.
  • Dismantle units; remove machinery from foundations; transfer to new locations; lift into place, level, and secure.
  • Reassemble units and prepare for operation.
  • Build wall partitions with sheet metal, wood, glass, and other materials; repack gland seals on pumps; change filters in intake and exhaust systems.
  • Repair/replace vacuum pumps, exterior plumbing, and machine drops (vacuum, compressed air, nitrogen, chiller liquid); vent stacks and related equipment for heat treat furnaces and equipment.
  • Replace worn flooring; perform concrete repairs; repair roofs as needed.
  • Service and repair rooftop and standalone HVAC units; maintain burners, air balance and flow, program controls, humidification, and refrigerants with EPA certification.
  • Maintain central coolant systems and all compressed air lines and machine drops.
  • Unblock clogged pipes and repair municipal water systems as needed.
  • Perform electric arc and oxy-fuel welding, rough carpentry, painting, plumbing, and sheet metal work as necessary.
  • Fabricate sheet metal guards and chutes.
  • Monthly inspection of hoisting equipment and lubrication per instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
May be required to support other initiatives
  • Dedicated, full-time hourly resources responsible for a specific area.
  • Focus on defined and quantified levels of achievement.
  • Lead lean manufacturing pillars and drive cultural change.
  • Trainer and facilitator for continuous improvement activities within the area.
  • Perform audits on achievements to verify sustainability.
  • Develop and implement recognition for area achievements.
Requirements
  • Education Requirements: As of June 1, 1994, must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Work Experience Requirements: Must possess a certified journeyman card or have worked 8000 hours in the trade in an industrial environment. Must maintain a valid forklift license.
  • Addendum (Jan 10, 2008): Minimum work experience may be waived if documentation shows 8000 hours in military service in the skilled trade and a minimum GATB score of medium or higher.
  • Addendum (Jan 24, 2007): Minimum work experience can be waived if a medium or above on GATB and/or demonstrated aptitude during interview.
