Overview
HOT NEW OPPORTUNITY! We are hiring for a technology company with a public safety mission. Through relentless innovation and discovery, they are strengthening trust, safety and transparency across the student transportation space and making the trip to and from school safer for students. The Field Service Technicians (FST) support the installation and service of our client's camera and communication equipment on customer fleets.
They will work with the Field Service teams to meet installation and service schedules and maintain high quality standards. FST will perform installations and service according to defined operating procedures, and will complete routine troubleshooting and propose solutions to service challenges.
- Work with schematics, install and service manuals, and CAD drawings to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair units while in the field.
- Record and communicate daily deliverables to team leads in a timely manner.
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Champion quality and safety standards with all team members and partners.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
- Operate a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices.
- Run wires, manage cabling, connect components, mount devices, and solve problems while maintaining a high quality standard.
- Use diagnostic equipment including multimeters and software to isolate wiring issues, network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and operational anomalies.
- Trace network cable issues using signal flow and resolve them.
- Terminate and test basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, and terminal strips/blocks.
- Install and terminate sub-devices (e.g., patch panels, junction boxes) and head-end equipment with proper grounding.
- Generate, evaluate, and implement solutions to routine problems; provide basic system diagnostics and troubleshooting such as electrical connections or equipment issues.
- Use information technology and related applications to convey and retrieve information; enter, transcribe, record, and maintain information in written or electronic formats.
- Work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds, resolve conflicts appropriately, and build trust with colleagues.
- Identify, move, and store construction and building materials for installation and service activities.
- Minimum of 1 year technician service experience or schooling in an applicable field:
- 12-volt electronics installs and service, OR
- GPS or fleet telemetry installs and service, OR
- Fire alarm installs and service, OR
- Access control, CCTV, or intercom systems, OR
- School or other transit bus mechanic systems
- Strong mechanical, mathematical and reasoning aptitude is required.
- Valid and current State issued Driver's License.
- Ability to travel and work when school buses are not in operation; overtime and occasional weekends may be required. Travel by air or driving as required based on distance. Travel required 75-100% of the time.
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts including overtime, nights and weekends when required.
- Must be able to stand/bend for up to 8 hours and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Position may include outdoor work, including hot or cold temperatures, confined spaces, extreme weather conditions, slippery and uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis.
- Salary range is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour plus full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401K and PTO.
