Are you skilled in maintenance and repair? The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is seeking an individual skilled in maintenance & mechanical repair to join our team at HKC Staten Island as a Senior Maintenance & Repair Technician. This full‑time position is part of a team responsible for ensuring our 75‑acre property is properly cared for so it can be used safely by the summer day camps that call our grounds home.
This position pays $21.00 - $23.00

HKC is a small Jewish non‑profit working in the Jewish day camp sphere with three locations. HKC Staten Island, our 75‑acre property, serves as home to three separate children’s day camps. As a seasonal organization, HKC hires about 90 workers to provide maintenance, janitorial services, aquatics supervision and security.
Day in the LifeReporting to the Property Manager, the technician will perform preventative maintenance and repair of commercial landscaping equipment (ride‑on mowers, leaf blowers) and vehicles (ATVs, UTVs, golf carts, trucks). Work cycles vary by season—winterizing in the fall, deep cleaning or repair in the winter, preparing for camp in spring, and maintaining in summer—but regular tasks continue year‑round. Daily duties may include mowing, painting, repairing vehicles, handling water or sewage issues, removing trash, and operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, skid steers, ride‑on decks and 3‑wheel groomers.
WorkSchedule
Primarily Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. During the off‑season (September–April) occasional weekend events may be required, and during the gear‑up period (May–June) extended days and weekend work is expected.
Minimum RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in facility or site maintenance, groundskeeping, or equivalent, and experience in equipment or vehicle mechanics and repair. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing or carpentry is a plus. A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and have general maintenance and janitorial skills.
Within 6 months of hire, the technician is expected to obtain OSHA certification and first‑aid certification at no cost to them.
