Site Operations Technician

Critical Loop | Full-Time | On-SIte | Multiple Openings

The Role

We are hiring a Site Operations Technician to be the hands on our deployed battery fleet. Once a mobile BESS is energized at a customer site, it has to stay safe, available, and in spec for the life of the contract. You own the field and equipment side of that commitment: preventive maintenance, corrective repair, high-voltage isolation, mobilization at customer sites, and the service records that stand behind every warranty and safety audit.

You will work with other engineers and technicians to make sure our fleet stays in good working condition, both for assets deployed in the field as well as assets at HQ and in our testbeds. This is a role for an experienced electrical technician who already works safely around 400 to 1000 VDC systems and wants to apply that skill set to larger stationary and mobile battery systems.

.

What You'll Do
  • Perform preventive maintenance on mobile BESS units: battery racks and modules, PCS/inverters, HVAC and thermal loops, DC and AC switch gear, auxiliary power, enclosures, and trailer systems

  • Execute corrective repairs from engineer-issued work orders and your own field diagnosis: module and component swaps, connector and busbar inspection, contactor and fuse replacement, coolant service, harness repair

  • Perform high-voltage isolation, lockout/tagout, and zero-energy verification on battery and PCS systems per NFPA 70E and company HV procedures, with stop-work authority on any safety concern

  • Set up, connect, and demobilize mobile units at customer sites, including interconnection to customer or utility switch gear under engineer or utility direction

  • Support commissioning and site acceptance testing: wiring verification, insulation resistance and continuity testing, torque verification, functional checks, and data capture

  • Isolate faults with diagnostic tools (multimeters, insulation testers, thermal cameras, CAN/Modbus interfaces, manufacturer service software) and capture the evidence engineering needs for root cause

  • Keep complete service records in the CMMS, manage depot spares and tooling, and train junior and contract technicians as the team grows

Must-Haves
  • 5+ years hands-on as a technician working with high voltage electrical systems

  • Demonstrated competence on energized and de-energized high-voltage DC systems, including isolation, LOTO, and zero-energy verification

  • Practical understanding of Li-ion packs: BMS behavior, cell balancing, thermal management, and safe handling of damaged or faulted modules

  • Works from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service procedures without hand-holding

  • Documentation discipline; service records must stand up to warranty, customer, and safety audits

  • Valid driver's license with clean record; able to tow and position trailer-mounted equipment, lift 50 lb, and work outdoors in all weather

Nice-to-Haves
  • OEM high-voltage certification (Tesla, Rivian, Ford, GM, or similar) or EVITP certification

  • NFPA 70E training; OSHA 10/30

  • Experience with 480 VAC three-phase equipment, switch gear, or industrial controls

  • Experience with stationary storage, solar, generator, or microgrid systems

  • Forklift certification;
    Class A CDL
