Scope of Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Resident Assistant will provide support to shelter residents and create a hospitable and safe environment in the shelter. This is a 16 hour/week position
- Saturday & Sunday 2:45 p.m - 11:15 p.m.
- Provide support to shelter residents.
- Monitor the activities of the residents within the shelter environment. Complete daily Shift Log checklist during your shift. Review and record Communication Log each shift.
- Conduct security wandering upon resident admission, as well as random wand checks.
- Monitor the physical facility by making rounds every half hour and conducting periodic inspections to ensure rooms are clean, facility is secure and that clients are abiding by house rules.
- Make referrals to alternative emergency shelter providers when Program beds are unavailable.
- Maintain basic record keeping responsibilities. This includes performing electronic intakes in the database and completing accurate time sheets in a timely manner.
- Check your individual work email daily.
- Attend and participate in monthly Staff meetings/Resident meetings.
- Attend relevant In‑Service training/conferences, as requested.
- Complete all mandatory training (in-person and online) in a timely manner.
- Clean linens, maintain cleanliness of facility (inside and perimeter).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED will be reviewed. Associated Degree preferred.
- Crisis intervention, interpersonal and communication skills needed.
- Ability to work in a continually changing and challenging environment.
- Flexibility in personal work schedule. Must be available for relief hours as needed.
- Basic computer skills required for completion of intakes, time sheets, email, daily logs.
