Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:
Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth.
CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
CAMBA’s comprehensive Workforce Development and Refugee Services Programs: Since our founding CAMBA has connected over 25,000 New Yorkers to full time jobs. Our workforce development initiatives grew out of our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive New York City. Driven by racial and economic equality, we provide opportunities for the most economically and socially vulnerable to thrive. We work with a vast diversity of job seekers and specialize in assisting those with special barriers to employment including refugees, political asylees, immigrant professionals, young adults, victims of human trafficking and others, from over fifty countries of origin, who are striving to connect to career paths.

What The Outreach and Resettlement Coordinator Does:
- Coordinate community outreach and client recruitment activities including in person and on-line, via social media and other media.
- Develop and maintain a social media presence for CAMBA Refugee Services, sharing relevant program information and monitoring and responding to comments and messages.
- Develop and implement a monthly outreach plan, including virtual and in-person outreach events and social media posts.
- Develop new materials and methods of outreach in response to changing program and client needs.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
- Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
- Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
- Understand all aspects multiple ever-evolving contracts and the requirements and services definitions for each.
- Conduct initial intake and assessment of clients and/or clients’ families’ situations and needs, including skill levels, prior work experience, employability, interests, aptitudes, support service needs, family and medical history, and individual development needs.
- Refer and enroll clients to the program/programs according to the outcome of the intake process.
- Advise clients regarding realistic career/employment goals and the education/training necessary to attain them. Work with clients to develop realistic educational/employment goals leading to self-sufficiency.
- In collaboration with clients, prepare Individual self-sufficiency employment Plan for each client, identifying employment goal, interim achievement objectives, and services.
- Develop strategies with clients regarding how to break through barriers to their short and long-term goals, overcoming resistance to change, and how to advocate for themselves.
- Work collaboratively with a team of instructors and job developers with the common goal of successfully advancing participants to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
- Maintain professional relationships and confidentiality with clients.
- Input client data and client progress/service information into automated database.
- Create and maintain client files with detailed records of services provided/financial records, as directed and required by CAMBA, the Department of State, and Funders.
- Collect and submit all documentation regarding client and contract outcomes.
- Plan and facilitate orientations, assessments, and progress during the course of the program(s).
- Recommend and implement strategies to persuade clients to participate to the fullest extent in their own education/employment placement and retention process.
- Develop new materials and methods of outreach in response to changing program and client needs.
- Act as client liaison/client advocate, both within CAMBA and/or with outside organizations, immigration attorneys and other referral sources regarding such matters as education, healthcare, housing, legal issues, new enrollments and client assessments, etc.
