Job Description:
We are seeking a Domestic Violence Housing and OVS Specialist to provide direct support to survivors of domestic violence, with a focus on housing stability and assistance with victim compensation applications through the Office of Victim Services. This role involves case management, housing coordination, safety planning, and connecting clients to essential community resources. The ideal candidate demonstrates cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed practice, and strong knowledge of housing systems and victim support services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist clients in identifying safe housing options, including emergency, transitional, and permanent housing
- Support clients with housing applications such as NYCHA, Section 8, and FHEPS B, including emergency safety transfers
- Coordinate individualized housing plans with social workers and case managers
- Assist clients with completing and submitting OVS victim compensation applications accurately and on time
- Conduct intake assessments, develop safety plans, and provide short-term follow-up support
- Provide referrals to legal services, counseling, food access, and other community resources
- Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and meet all grant reporting requirements
- Demonstrate trauma-informed and culturally competent care in all interactions
- Travel to service hubs, including Family Justice Centers, Brooklyn Hub, and the main program office
- Perform additional responsibilities as required
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field required; MSW preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting survivors of domestic violence or working in housing advocacy preferred
- Familiarity with public housing systems and victim compensation processes preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to assess safety and housing needs and develop appropriate plans
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices
Willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City using public transportation
