Comunilife Inc is looking to fill a position for a Substance Abuse Counselor under the OTDA Program. The counselor conducts initial and annual substance abuse assessments, develops service plans, and provides counseling and advocacy. The role involves monitoring client attendance and documenting contacts. This position offers a competitive salary up to $55,000 annually, with benefits and paid time off. The program sites are located in the Bronx and Brooklyn, with travel required within these locations.
EssentialFunctions
Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments.
Collaborate in developing and revising comprehensive service plans with clients and staff, setting long and short-term goals.
Provide individual, family, and group counseling for substance abuse.
Make advocacy and referral to community-based programs as needed.
Document all services promptly and accurately.
Participate in training, workshops, seminars, case conferences, and meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree with Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and five (5) years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with CASAC-T and two (2) years of experience. Experience with clients with HIV/AIDS, mental illness, or chemical dependence is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
