Community Technician - Wanda Patterson
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment.
- Engage clients in an approachable and empathetic manner while conducting rounds and addressing individual needs.
- Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self‑awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust.
- Screen residents and visitors at the front door, creating written documentation such as logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes.
- Manage inventory for supplies, maintain fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed.
- Assist with inspections and audits.
- Escort clients and serve meals as needed and help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
Hours
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
- NYC Fire Safety Guard certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
- NYC Fire Safety Coordinator certification preferred; willing to attempt acquisition.
- Security guard license preferred; willing to attempt acquisition.
- Food Handler certificate preferred; willing to acquire.
- TB clearance when required.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effectively communicate, maintain professional boundaries, basic computer literacy required.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
- Vaccination preferred but not required.
