Location: New York

Beth El Day Camp is a Jewish summer camp for children ages 2-12. Responsibilities During Camp:

Office Management:
- Communicate effectively and courteously with campers, counselors, parents, and staff.
- Answer and process incoming phone calls and emails.
- Greet campers, counselors, and therapists, directing them to the appropriate person or place.
- Manage daily staff and camper attendance.
- Ensure the general office area is cleaned and organized daily.
- Create printed documents for summer camp use.
- Organize lost and found articles.

Financial Management:
- Track invoices and orders; scan invoices to Beth El’s Controller.
- Collect payments for swim lessons, Before & After Care, and birthday celebrations.
- Manage camper birthday celebrations by contacting families, assessing interest, collecting payments, and alerting counselors.

Vendor Relations:
- Confirm upcoming trips and programming with vendors.
- Place orders for supplies and food as needed.

Communication & Documentation:
- Assist the Assistant Director in producing and disseminating the camp’s weekly newsletter.
- Help plan and implement staff nights.

First Aid & Emergencies:
- Administer first aid to campers as necessary.
- Assist campers and staff during emergency situations.

Professional Development:
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Attend staff orientation.

Compensation

$6,000 - $7,000

Requirements

Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and comprehensively.
- Working knowledge of general office procedures.
- General understanding of youth development, with a willingness to learn more.
- Effective communication skills to work with diverse groups of varying ages and skill levels.
- Ability to identify environmental hazards and respond appropriately.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist in various capacities as needed.

Pre-Camp Responsibilities:
- Physical Setup:
Assist in setting up the camp office two weeks prior to the start of camp.
- Familiarize yourself with the office environment.
- Order necessary office supplies.
- Camp Minder familiarization:
Set up a Camp Minder account.
- Watch the pre-selected onboarding Camp Minder videos.

Wednesday, June 18 (5:00pm – 9:00pm)
All Staff #1:
Sunday, June 22 (11:30am – 6:00pm)
All Staff #2:
Monday, June 23 (5:00pm – 9:00pm)
All Staff #3:
Sunday, June 29 (12:00pm – 3:00pm)

- Camper Meet and Greet:
Meet & Greet #1:
Wednesday, June 25 (3:00pm – 6:00pm)
Meet & Greet #2:
Thursday, June 26 (3:00pm – 6:00pm)

- Camp Session:
June 30 – August 15, 2024 (closed July 4th)
- Bi-Weekly Staff Meetings: 7:45 A.M.
- Compensation: $6,000 – $7,000 commensurate with experience; $25/hour for pre-camp work.
