Family Peer Support Worker

Full Time / Part Time, Regular/Part Time, Total Hours Per Week 19, Salary $20.00.

Job Summary

The Family Peer Support Service Worker assists the program in providing services to families in areas where support and advocacy is needed, but do not require the full services of the Care Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Comply with NYS Office of Mental Health Regulations.
  • Assist families to become independent and prepare for transition and termination of services, and assist in intake and discharge processes.
  • Regularly conference with the Care Manager and supervisors.
  • Conduct home visitation.
  • Accompany families to appointments to serve as a bridge between families and service providers.
  • Support and assist families during stages of transition (placements, between service systems).
  • Work flexible hours when required.
Education & Experience
  • Must be a New York State Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA).
  • Demonstrate ‘lived experience’ as a parent or primary caregiver who navigated multiple child-serving systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred;
    State Education Commencement Credential acceptable.
  • Credential may be waived if competencies and relevant life experience are demonstrated.
  • Positions in Lower Hudson Valley require a valid, non-restricted driver’s license.
Physical Requirements

Employee must communicate clearly, stand, use mobility, handle, feel and reach. Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel or crouch. Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
