The Residential Aide is responsible for developing a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and guests of My Mother’s House (MMH) and Richmond Hill (RH), two of Hour Children’s transitional residences. MMH is a residence that supports up to 14 women and/or families in the reentry process, while RH supports up to 9 single rooms for women. The Residential Aide will focus on creating an environment that centers on community building and supports the continued development of independent living skills.

The Residential Aide coordinates and verifies client movement in the facility in conjunction with the House Manager, while also monitoring the client's conduct and overall behavior during tour of duty. This is a full-time position that can include holidays and/or weekends based on client need.

• Serving as a role model-guiding and empowering residents and facilitating appropriate behavior around daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships, and constructive time management.
• Sustaining a nurturing and healthy household for all residents and staff alike.
• Monitoring residents' adherence to program policies and procedures, including curfew compliance and chores.
• Ensures residents and visitors are properly signed in and out of the site.
• Ensures residents complete required housekeeping activities.
• Assists the House Manager with room inspections when needed.
• Collaborates with Mental Health Services staff to communicate resident progress and needs.
• Reviews video cameras and conducts hourly rounds at the site.
• Assists and coordinates arrivals/transfers, new intakes, and discharges.
• Ensures that all residents’ passes are accurate and documented.
• Provides limited crisis intervention and de-escalation to residents, when necessary, until the House Manager, Case Managers, Clinical Supervisor, or Senior Director of Programs can be contacted and/or intervene. Contacts the proper authorities as needed.
• Informs House Manager and/or Maintenance Manager of work site’s physical condition (i.e., dangerous conditions, possible repair needs, supply needs, etc.).
• Maintains and manages inventory of welcome items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and food for the site.
• Preps vacant units for new placements.
• Maintains proper usage of cleaning supplies and inventory.
• Prepares and maintains accurate and complete progress notes, log entries, reports, and other required documents such as incident reports.
• Attends staff meetings and other agency events, as necessary.
• Facilitates and documents safety and evacuation procedures as needed.
• Assists House Manager with conducting fire drills as scheduled and works with program staff to ensure that fire safety procedures are followed and document these events as per MOCJ and Housing Plus guidelines.
• Performs administrative and maintenance duties when needed.
• Completes assigned training as required.
• Other duties, as needed.
