Youth Shelter Fill-in

Responsibilities and Duties

If you want a job helping young people (ages 16-21) prepare to meet the challenges of living independently in today’s world, Mid Way could use a kind soul like you! Mid Way is looking for dependable people to provide Trauma-Informed Care and assist our staff in providing coverage for various shifts in this 24 hour program. Many of our fill-in staff have advanced to full time positions on this supportive and caring team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• - Provide caring supervision and guidance to the youth in this program.
• - Support staff in helping our youth meet their goals and aspirations.
• - Help keep the residence safe, clean and feeling as much like a HOME as possible.
• - Communicate clearly and respectfully with our youth and staff.
• - Read and update our logs and relay the status of the house and residents to oncoming staff.
• - Transport our youth to appointments and scheduled activities in a company van.

• - Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.
• - Must be able to pass CPS clearance as well as NYS Justice Center finger printing background clearance.
• - Experience in working with youth in human services and an understanding and adherence to providing Trauma-Informed Care. (empathetic, collaborative, safe)
• - Good boundaries, organizational and communication skills are essential.
• - Must complete any Agency required trainings.

Hours for this position vary depending on the need and your schedule. The pay rate is $16.48 for overnight shifts during which the employee can be asleep (for up to 5 hours) and $17.22 for all other hours.
