Psychiatric RN - NIGHTS
LocationIn‑Office | Northport, AL, United States
Employment TypeContract, Travel – 13‑week assignment (July 6, 2026 – Oct 4, 2026)
ScheduleShift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 hours/week). Holidays required; works every other weekend.
Job DescriptionNorth Harbor specializes in acute inpatient psychiatric treatment and care on the Northport campus. The role involves providing patient‑centered nursing care for adults and geriatric patients under the supervision of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. You will support recovery, monitor patient conditions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and assist with anger management, coping skills, and de‑escalation using sensory‑reduction tools.
Responsibilities- Float to other units and hospitals as needed.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric inpatient psychiatric patients.
- Assist with 24‑hour care planning and monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support patient recovery.
- Employ sensory‑reduction tools for anger management, coping skills, and de‑escalation.
- Registered Nurse with a valid Alabama license or a compatible compact license (no temporary licenses accepted).
- Must be licensed through NURSYS.
- Minimum of 2 years experience; or 18 months experience with at least 1 year recent in psychiatric specialty.
- Board certification or equivalent in psychiatry required.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Red Cross certification (if applicable).
- CPI (Critical Incident Procedure) certification.
