Overview

New York (Lower Manhattan) On-site. Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Frontend Engineer to take a pivotal role in developing and refining our user-facing applications. You will be instrumental in architecting and implementing new features, championing frontend best practices, and significantly improving the performance, maintainability, and overall "sleekness" of our existing Next.js/React frontend.

• Develop & Enhance Features:
  Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality, and performant user interfaces using Next.js, React, and Type Script.
• Drive Frontend Excellence:
  Champion best practices in frontend architecture, code quality, performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, load times, rendering efficiency), and accessibility.
• Tackle Technical Debt:
  Proactively identify, diagnose, and refactor areas of the existing codebase to improve performance (e.g., memory leaks, reducing bundle sizes, optimizing component rendering), and enhance maintainability.
• Figma to Frontend Implementation:
  Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate Figma designs into responsive, pixel-perfect and interactive web experiences; provide feasibility feedback and suggest web-friendly optimizations.
• Performance Optimization:
  Monitor, analyze, and optimize frontend performance across devices and browsers for a smooth user experience.
• Mentorship &
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and participate in team discussions to foster technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Testing & Quality Assurance:
  Write robust unit and integration tests; work with QA to address bugs and ensure a polished final product.
• Stay Current:
  Evaluate emerging frontend technologies and best practices, and advocate for adoption where beneficial.

• Extensive React & Next.js
  
  Experience:
  
  5+ years building complex web apps with React, including 2-3 years focused on Next.js (SSR, SSG, ISR, API Routes, next/image, next/font, next/dynamic).
• Strong JavaScript/Type Script:
  Deep understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), Type Script, and their nuances.
• HTML & CSS Mastery:
  Semantic HTML and advanced CSS (Flexbox, Grid, SASS/LESS, CSS-in-JS, responsive design).
• Performance Tuning:
  Experience diagnosing frontend performance bottlenecks (memory leaks, slow rendering, large bundles); familiarity with Core Web Vitals and browser dev tools.
• State Management:
  Experience with Context API, Zustand, Jotai, Recoil, Redux Toolkit or similar; ability to choose the right tool.
• Figma Proficiency:
  Experience with Figma, component libraries, auto-layout, variants, and exporting assets; collaborate effectively with designers.
• API Integration:
  
  Experience with RESTful or Graph
  
  QL APIs.
• Testing Frameworks:
  Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress.
• Version Control:
  Proficient with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Problem-Solving Mindset:
  Strong analytical skills and proactive approach to tackling technical debt and complex issues.
• Communication &
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Clear verbal and written communication; ability to articulate technical decisions and work well in a team.

• Experience with UI animation libraries (e.g., Framer Motion, GSAP).
• Knowledge of Web Workers or other offloading techniques.
• Experience with component library development and tools like Storybook.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of web security best practices.
