At Val Town, product engineers focus on application engineering and have wide latitude in how they work.

Your day-to-day will include adding features in our web app, fixing bugs, crafting our APIs, responding to incidents, and steadily improving performance, reliability, and system stability. We ship to production many times a day and value engineers who can own problems end-to-end – from understanding the customer need to iterating quickly towards a solution.

• Experience with a front-end framework like React
• Ability to build and deploy full-stack features, touching the database (we use Drizzle/Postgres ) and full-stack frameworks (we use React Router )

• Devtools background
• Experience with Deno
• Interest in writing about what you build (blog posts, tutorials) or engaging our developer community
• Familiarity with Code Mirror
• Experience with site-reliability (Pager Duty, Honeycomb, Click House, etc.)

We’re a small, Brooklyn-based team that ships quickly with high-trust.

Rhythm :
Light daily stand-up, then deep solo focus. We pair or whiteboard whenever it’s useful, and we all grab lunch together most days.

Culture :
Flat and collaborative — decisions are made by the person closest to the problem or most excited to solve it, not by hierarchy.

Process :
We plan lightly, message on Discord, write thoughtful Git Hub issues, and document what we build so teammates can move fast.

No, not right now. We believe working in person sparks magic. Especially in the earliest days of our company, we all want to be in the same room in Brooklyn to design, iterate, and build as fast as possible.
