The Role

We are looking for Staff Engineers passionate about designing and building big data management systems in the modern data landscape. The role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership and hands-on experience in developing features and algorithms that support Celonis’s transformation of its core platform to a novel object-centric paradigm. You will be part of a distributed team spanning Europe and North America.

The work you’ll do

• Drive innovation in designing critical, high-performance systems to handle the ever-growing request rate on our backend infrastructure

• Evangelize best practices in database usage and end-to-end architecture

• Mentor and grow teammates, setting an example for best practices.

• Recognize and act to improve the developer work environment.

• Write production-quality code

• Lead the development procedures, concepts, and knowledge.

• Help define a fun and inclusive engineering culture.

The qualifications you need

• BS in Computer Science or related field;
  Masters or Ph.D. preferred

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience

• Proficient in Java programming and familiar with Spring frameworks.

• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and performance tuning.

• Strong organizational, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

• Experience with SQL processing, query planning and optimization, or query engine internals is a big plus

The base salary range below is for the role in the specified location, based on a Full Time Schedule.

Total compensation package will include base salary + bonus/commission + equity + benefits (health, dental, life, 401k, and paid time off). Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and that the actual total compensation offer will be determined based on various factors, including, but not limited to, applicant's qualifications, skills, experiences, and location.

The base salary range below is for the role in New York, based on a Full Time Schedule.

$190,000—$240,000 USD
