Role OverviewWe are seeking a Lead Android Engineer to guide the technical execution of the Hodinkee Android app. This role balances hands‑on engineering with architectural decision‑making, ensuring scalable systems and high‑quality user experiences.
Responsibilities- Lead the technical direction of the Android application to execute the defined product and feature roadmap.
- Architect systems using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android development principles.
- Maintain scalable modular architectures including MVVM/MVI and Clean Architecture patterns.
- Optimize app performance, startup time, memory usage, and rendering efficiency.
- Integrate cleanly with REST/Graph
QL services and backend systems. - Build and maintain automated unit, integration, and UI test suites.
- Mentor Android engineers and help establish excellent engineering culture.
- Collaborate with iOS, Backend, Product, Design, and QA teams for cohesive execution.
- 7+ years of Android development experience.
- Expert proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack libraries including Compose.
- Strong understanding of Coroutines, Flow, dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger), and architectural best practices.
- Experience maintaining scalable, modularized Android applications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical initiatives.
- Experience with analytics instrumentation, feature flags, and A/B testing.
- Familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM).
- Experience with mobile security best practices including encryption.
Salary: $150,000-$170,000 per year.
