Blacksmith is revolutionizing how companies run their CI/CD workflows by providing a bare-metal, high-performance cloud infrastructure specifically designed for Git Hub Actions. We've built the fastest way to run CI jobs, orchestrating millions of VMs monthly over our own fleet of bare metal hardware and powering the CI for over 600 fast-growing startups like Ashby, Slope, AtoB, and Superblocks. Our mission is to unbundle CI workloads from hyperscaler clouds and build the future of CI.

We are looking for three highly skilled and product‑minded Frontend‑Leaning Fullstack Engineers to join our rapidly growing team in NYC. This is a unique opportunity to be a foundational member of a company that's making a significant impact in the developer tools space, backed by $13.5M in funding from Google Ventures. You will play a crucial role in building our customer‑facing products, working closely with design to create polished, high‑performance UIs, while also contributing to our backend systems.

• Develop and enhance our customer‑facing applications, with a strong emphasis on frontend excellence (50‑90% frontend focus).

• Collaborate closely with our design team to translate user experience visions into high‑quality, performant UIs.

• Dive deep into browser performance, rendering bottlenecks, and complex component architecture to deliver an exceptional user experience.

• Contribute to our backend systems built with Laravel, ensuring seamless integration and robust functionality.

• Own and drive complex projects end‑to‑end with a high degree of autonomy and agency.

• Work in a fast‑paced, startup environment, making pragmatic trade‑offs to achieve ambitious goals.

• 2‑5 years of experience as a solid fullstack engineer, with a clear frontend leaning.

• Proven track record working on customer‑facing products at great early‑stage startups, quant shops/funds (e.g., HRT, Citadel), or FAANG companies.

• Experience working closely with design to build polished, high‑performance UIs.

• Founding engineer or ex‑founder experience is a strong plus.

• Proficiency in React and Type Script is a must.

• Proficient in Laravel on the backend.

• Extremely sharp and able to grasp complex concepts quickly.

• Pragmatic about trade‑offs and understands the pace of a startup.

• Collaborative and kind – we're building a team of "no lone‑wolf engineers or smart jerks." /p>

• High agency and autonomy – able to own and drive complex projects end‑to‑end.

• A degree from a top Computer Science program (e.g., CMU, MIT, Berkeley, Waterloo, UPenn) is a strong bonus.

• Salary: $160,000 - $220,000 (flexible and can go higher for exceptional candidates).
