As a Staff Full‑stack Engineer (Backend‑Leaning) at Farther, you will be a key technical leader within our engineering organization, architecting and driving the development of our core platform and infrastructure. You will shape the technical vision of our backend systems while maintaining strong full‑stack capabilities, establish engineering standards, and tackle our most complex distributed‑systems challenges. Working with Type Script, Bun, and Cockroach

DB, you will influence technical decisions that impact our entire financial platform. This is a technical leadership role focused on engineering excellence, not people management.

• Drive technical architecture decisions that shape the future of our backend platform
• Lead the design and implementation of large‑scale distributed systems and full‑stack features across multiple projects
• Establish backend engineering standards and best practices that scale across the organization
• Tackle complex technical challenges in system design, scalability, reliability, and performance
• Guide and mentor senior engineers through complex technical decisions and full‑stack implementation
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to define technical strategy and roadmap
• Design and implement critical financial systems architecture while considering frontend implications
• Work across the full‑stack to deliver complete solutions when needed
• Champion engineering excellence in distributed systems and full‑stack development
• Lead technical discovery and implementation of major new platform capabilities
• Contribute to our cutting‑edge, agentic‑based software manufacturing pipeline

• 10+ years of backend development experience with strong full‑stack capabilities and deep expertise in distributed systems
• Extensive experience with database design and distributed data systems (Cockroach
  
  DB or similar)
• Strong proficiency in frontend technologies (React, Type Script) with ability to architect full‑stack solutions
• Strong background in financial systems architecture and implementation
• Track record of making significant technical decisions that positively impact engineering organizations
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and driving technical best practices across the stack
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical documentation
• Proven ability to break down complex technical problems and guide solutions across multiple teams
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS), microservices architecture, and containerization
• History of successful technical leadership without direct management responsibilities
• Product‑focused mindset with ability to balance technical excellence and business impact

• Experience building trading systems or financial platforms
• Background in high‑availability system design
• Expertise in event‑driven architectures
• Experience with technical strategy and roadmap planning
• Knowledge of financial regulatory requirements and compliance
• Track record of solving complex distributed systems challenges
• Experience with real‑time data processing
• Contributions to open‑source projects or technical writing
• Background in functional programming at scale
• Experience with performance optimization of large‑scale applications
