Principal Software Developer – Oracle

As part of this effort, the Object Storage Service team is looking for hands‑on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, large scale storage, and highly available services. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact.

• Own the software design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service.
• Design software architecture with performance in mind and leverage hardware acceleration where possible.
• Develop low‑level systems and build highly efficient software stacks in Java or C++.
• Work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment and be excited to learn.

• 10+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Proven experience in Java or C++ languages.
• Familiar with scripting languages like python.
• In‑depth knowledge linux kernel and Ethernet/IP/TCP/HTTP protocols.
• Strong understanding of system performance and hardware acceleration.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Knowledge of databases, storage and distributed persistence technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience building multi‑tenant infrastructure a strong plus.

Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 – $223,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

  Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non‑overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
  
  Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
