The environment will be similar to a fast-paced restaurant/workshop while allowing you to work directly with our autonomous robots. Our Robot Technicians will execute robot fleet repair throughout the shift, troubleshoot unexpected situations, and work effectively to keep our robots in operation.
Job Responsibilities- Technical Tasks:
- Maintaining the health of our global fleet of robots through daily maintenance and repair tasks, including diagnosing problems, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors).
- Carrying out preventive maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and infrastructure; monitoring and servicing internal systems, running tests, and completing reports; implementing updates or improvements to existing systems as appropriate.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify the causes of faults and develop solutions to prevent or resolve underlying issues.
- Operational Tasks:
- Accurately document all tasks and communications related to service concerns or robot-related issues using appropriate applications/tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized hub by performing spare parts inventory audits twice a week and ensuring tools are returned to their proper location after use.
- Work with the engineering team to identify potential improvements regarding robot health and design.
- Assist the Operational Team and vendors/merchants by providing in-person assistance, performing weekly Merchant Preflights to understand service-related issues, and acting as a Starship brand representative when interacting with clients.
- Occasionally support the Operational Service team by assisting with robot field rescues or other operational tasks when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A passion for robots and innovative technologies.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or another related STEM field.
- Previous experience in Technical Support or with service desk applications is beneficial but not required.
- Good knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and IT.
- Excellent client-facing skills.
- Self-starter; able to work without supervision and begin projects independently.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, CLI tools, and scripting is preferred but not required.
- Hobby projects in electronics or mechanics.
- Previous experience in managing a large fleet of devices.
- Movement ability for frequent use of wrists, hands, and fingers, including constant typing and full-body exertion when handling the robot fleet.
- Occasional lifting of up to 70 lbs.
- Comfortable riding an ebike on various terrain.
