Overview

Join us at Con Edison as an Associate. You will diagnose system issues and shape robust solutions alongside experienced engineers. The role involves designing, coding in C# .Net, Python, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, Oracle and SQL DB, testing, documentation, problem solving, and training. You’ll work on OMS systems including Outage Management System, Outage Map, Oracle Utilities Analytics, and Distribution Control Center applications.

This position leverages distributed multi-tiered systems, algorithms, relational databases, and object-oriented design across multiple languages.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, develop, maintain, and support computer systems of the IT BSD Outage Management Systems (OMS) Department.
  • Assist in the development of new functionality using C# .Net, Python, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, Oracle and SQL DB; prepare documentation, code, test, and troubleshoot.
  • Analyze system problems and formulate system changes, including code development, testing, and documentation updates.
  • Meet with clients to recommend requirements analysis.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, control center operators, and third‑party vendors to facilitate SCADA updates and changes.
  • Write programming specifications for small to medium changes.
  • Design and code software applications and demonstrate understanding of the SDLC.
  • Support and maintain the end-to‑end outage management ecosystem, including the public‑facing Outage Map and internal outage management tools.
  • Collaborate with other software engineers on infrastructure layers of applications.
  • Work with vendors to install software packages and support the application environment.
  • Perform unit, integration, and system testing and set up user acceptance testing for small to medium projects.
  • Provide application server and desktop support for vendor‑provided packages.
  • Troubleshoot production problems, perform high‑level application testing for upgrades, and prepare routine maintenance changes for production.
Qualifications Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of one year of work experience including cumulative work or equivalent internship/co‑op experience OR six months of Con Edison co‑op or internship experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related focus.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Exposure to design and coding across one or more platforms and languages.
  • Exposure to methods relating to application design, software development, and automated testing.
  • Practical understanding of object‑oriented design and coding with a variety of languages.
  • Exposure to Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, and AI related technologies.
  • Exposure to Operational Data Center Environments (preferred).
  • Understanding of Waterfall, Agile, or other rapid application development methods (preferred).
  • Capable of working independently or with a team (preferred).
