Fractional AI builds bespoke generative AI software to transform businesses. We build custom end‑to‑end AI applications that bridge the gap between theory and practice for C‑suite leaders across the country.

About Bringing Your Own Engineering Team

We’re looking for existing engineering teams of 2–5 developers who want to join Fractional AI. If you co‑founded your own venture, were impacted by a reduction in force, or simply want a new direction, we encourage you to apply as a team.

All team members will interview together on the same day; if an offer is made, it will be extended to all, with individual acceptance curves.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

• 7+ years coding experience with strong proficiency across multiple programming languages.
• Demonstrated interest in AI (e.g., Lang Chain, LLM side projects, heavy ChatGPT usage).
• Comfort solving hard, novel problems and a self‑teaching mindset.
• Start‑up readiness: proactive, “no job too big, no job too small,” shaping strategy & culture.
• User‑centric: ability to navigate conversations and ensure solutions meet needs.
• Team player: help others, ask for help, champion integrity and personal growth.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop custom AI solutions tailored to unique customer needs, ensuring integration and scalability.
• Partner with high‑caliber team across full project lifecycle: requirements, prototyping, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Actively shape our engineering culture—from learning and hiring practices to celebration rituals.

Our Tech Stack

• Tech‑agnostic: we work in client environments and code bases, mostly Python.
• After a few years, you'll become an expert in foundational models, Lang Chain/Lang Smith, Open Pipe, Pinecone, Chroma
  
  DB, and more.

A Day in the Life

• Lead a customer project (e.g., AI phone agents, content moderation). Work onsite SF office 8–10 am PT.
• Execute priority items (e.g., evals suite), attend weekly stand‑ups with client CTOs.
• Participate in cross‑project lunch stand‑ups debating tools like Weights & Biases vs Braintrust.
• Enjoy solo deep work and potential prospective client calls.
• Wrap up by 5–6:30 pm.

• Report directly to Eddie, Co‑Founder & CTO.
• Collaborate closely with fellow Fractional AI engineers.
• Engage regularly with our CEO, Chris, and Chairman, Travis.
