Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

Pay rate - $45 to $50

Responsibilities:

• Embedded systems, firmware development with specific focus on Linux and real time embedded systems.
• Developing advance firmware solutions for critical substation monitoring and diagnosis requirements.
• Coordinate firmware development activities and lead quality and scheduling projects.
• Supports development team and provides needed pre-qualification and verification testing. Ensure compliance to all regulatory needs for the product and business
• Support product transition to mass manufacturing
• Supports sales and support team post release to timely meet customer needs.
• Follow software development and validation processes and continuously improve them.
• Use Scrum Agile Methodology for software development.

Mandatory

Skills:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems design, development, testing, and debugging.
• Strong experience with microcontroller and microprocessor-based systems
• Expertise in Embedded C/C++ development within real-time, multi-threaded environments.
• Proficiency in programming peripheral interfaces like UART, I2C, SPI, etc.
• Proven experience in developing, debugging, and testing industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC
  60870, IEC
  61850, along with expertise in Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and SCADA practices.
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux and Windows environments, including real-time data acquisition and scheduling applications.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks for Linux.
• Experience with device driver programming.

• Work on advanced embedded technology using Embedded Linux, real-time systems, C/C++, microcontrollers, and device drivers.
• Build mission-critical products focused on substation monitoring, diagnostics, and industrial applications.
• Strengthen specialized skills in protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870, IEC 61850, Ethernet, and SCADA.
• End-to-end product exposure, from firmware design and development through verification, regulatory compliance, manufacturing, release, and customer support.
• Technical leadership opportunities, including coordinating firmware development, managing schedules, supporting engineering teams, and driving product quality.
• Hands-on debugging and system-level engineering, involving hardware interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, protocol analyzers, and real-time data acquisition.
• Manufacturing exposure, supporting the transition of newly developed products into mass production.
• Customer-facing experience, working with sales/support teams to resolve technical issues after product release.
• Modern development practices, including Scrum/Agile, unit testing, verification, validation, and continuous process improvement.
• Strong career progression potential toward roles such as Senior/Lead Embedded Engineer, Firmware Technical Lead, Embedded Systems Architect, or Engineering Manager.
