Senior Software Engineer (Golang/Type Script/React)- Independent Contractor - Working GMT-4/-5 hours

This role requires working US Eastern Time (GMT-4/GMT-5) hours to align with our team in Washington, DC (typically ~2:00 PM to 10:00 PM CET / 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM BST). We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team, responsible for working on our platform, which some of the world's biggest companies, central banks and non-governmental organisations use to build revenue and volume through data and analytics.

• Designing, developing, testing, maintaining and enhancing the Golang microservices and frontend applications you're responsible for
• Delivering beautiful, performant interfaces, driven by our design system, for our customers
• Taking full ownership of features from ideation to production
• Acting as a key voice in technical strategy, navigating the trade-offs between existing systems and new technologies and communicating architectural decisions
• Improving the performance and observability of our services and applications
• Improving the quality of life of your team and the business, through automation, process improvement or new technologies

You will join a technical team of approximately 30 technologists with a key purpose of continuously and reliably collecting large amounts of financial data describing cross-border payments, then processing the data, verifying its quality and serving it to our users so that they can make informed business decisions.

A typical team contains around three engineers and a Product Manager.

You will be interacting with various stakeholders across the business in addition to your immediate team.

• Write Golang services and web app backends, and deploy them in Docker containers
• Build beautiful, componentised application frontends in React/Type Script
• Write performant SQL
• Understand clean code principles and the language idioms of Type Script and Go, review code using these principles and establish team quality standards
• Learn and engage with a new business domain and product
• Communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical people
• Talk about how you learn and improve your skills

• Applications with concurrent logic (i.e. go routines)
• Building CI/CD pipelines, especially with Git Lab CI
• Configuring and using observability tools (e.g. Prometheus and Grafana)
• Experience utilising AI to increase productivity and efficiency of work and productionised AI tools
